Amp install-- where at???

OK- thought I had it all worked out to just raise the bench-seat in my 93 extended cab. Well, after giving this more thought and looking at this I have decided that there just is'nt enough room for the amp.Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can install a jl 300/4 amp in this truck without it looking getto. It will not fit under the seats either. The only alternative that I can see is to just mount it in the floor behind the center console.I will fabricate a platform for it to be mounted to, to keep it off the floor.Unless someone has a better idea I will have to go with this install. Any and all ideas much appreciated.

Extended cab what? Ranger...F-150...you gotta give more details. Is the rear seat a bench or the fold-down-outta-the-wall type? Mounting it in the floor is rather obviously a bad idea, as you know what people in the back seat can do for more room. Too much damage potential.

Your best bet would be:
rear bench seat: put it behind the bench seat flush with the wall, out of the way.
rear side fold down seats: You can actually mount it IN one of the holes if you want, just don't let anyone fold that seat up... With the rear fold down side seats you could also mount it in the middle on the back wall if you could keep people from playing with it, or do what my friend and I did on his S-10, if you have a center cupholder, put it inside that.

Rangerpilot- Sorry! It is a 1993 f-150 extended cab. Solid across bench seat that does not have enought clearance under it or enough room behind the back of it as the backrest fits flush to the wall.

Ok, I'd say your best bet would be this, and it's going to take some work on your part.

Build a centre console for the back seat, running from the front seat console back to the center of the back seat. Make it hollow, put the amp inside of it, and put a cooling fan in somewhere to keep it cool. It's gotta be able to circulate air. On top make it look like a normal console and possibly make cup holders or whatever you are capable of doing. Only way I can see to make it unobvious but still workable, and cool, at the same time.

Yea that sounds like an option. I thought that I would get the local metalshop to build me a base about 1/2 inch off of the floor to mount it to. I would also have to fabricate a box covered with matching carpet to cover it when not in use.Anybody got any other ideas?

Not really. The main worry is somebody in the back seat will kick it. As long as you can protect it you will be good.
