I was looking at a pump on ebay it was from a 87 BII it seemed to be different then the look of a 86 or earlier, more bend not as straight. If my 86 had a new one placed in it might that be the issue with the mid filled reading all the time like after 12 gallons gone looking like its empty but got 11 gallons left ........ TR
being this is on ebay you cant be sure this is really from a bronco II as you may know most of the part of the ford ranger will work with the bronco II unfortunalty the fuel sender units are not on of those parts being that the ranger and bronco II have 2 different tank shapes which would mean different hights in the tank the pump is set at as far as i know the gas tank hasnt changed at all from the 1983 to the 1990 bronco II's the early carborated bronco II i think even had the same in tank pump just no in line high pressure pump i suggest comparing the looks a ford ranger pump to the one yu saw on ebay if there identical you know that its wrong best bet is to order it from ford they would be least likey to make mistakes
I would go to the auto parts store and buy the correct fuel pump,as far as the senser in the fuel tank it is shot Bronco II fuel tank level senders are known for problems.
Looks like you can get a new assembly for $100 and if you just need the pump it looks like $40. What I do sometimes is go somewhere like partsamerica.com and use them to see what years had the same part numbers. A lot of the time once you go into a part there is an option to see what other years and modles that part will fit.
Example, this is a list that shares with my 1990 BII:
