I have noticed that over the past few weeks whenever the temperature has been in the teens, my ABS light has been staying on. If it is a warm day high 20's to 30's (I need to get out of the northeast) the ABS does not stay on. This is a 99 S/D with rear ABS only, if anyone has a suggestion other then moving to a warmer area let me know.

Could you need a good brake flush to remove oil fluid and moisture? Brake fluid is moisture absorbant to maintain efficientcy... I would try a full brake system flush and see what happens and have the sensors at the wheels checked as one could be just faulty or broken and in cold weather the circuit acts up? I change my brake fluid 1/year (use to my old Mercedes which dictated it)... and amazed and the dark fluid that flushed out even on a yearly basis. Cheap $50 - $60 for the local shop to do and I can watch... and keep my hands clean!!!
Good luck and maybe a brake specialist will answer your post.
Do you have ice and snow where you are? The reason I ask is because when I am plowing snow I sometimes get snow inside the caliper area and the ABS light comes on. Once it melts it goes out. Could be messing up the sensor?
Beast...yes, the first time I had a problem was during a fairly heavy snowstorm and the temperature was in the low 20's, since then the ABS comes on whenever it has been lower then mid 20's. Once I drive the truck a mile or so, I can shut it off and restart it and the ABS light goes out. Intermittent problems like this drive me nuts !!!
i second what Beast said. if it snows alot here my ABS gives me problems when i plow. like he said, its snow and ice getting packed in the hub by the ABS sensor. i am not sure how the rear axle works, i know there is a sensor for the speedometer and would assume it uses the same sensor for the ABS. so it could be something to do with your rear diff.
