My son's '85 302 EFI died on us and will not restart. We did an KOEO test and got a Code 18 but that may not be a valid reading since the engine was cold. We want to change out the engine computer with one we know is good, but can't find its location. Can anyone steer us in the right direction? Any ideas on the Code 18 would also be appreciated. Thanks.
fordfuelinjection.com Ryan has alot of info posted on that site will all the codes and their meaings and how to fix/troubleshoot problems with the EFI system
Thanks, 74F250. That site is where I found out where the computer is located. Code 18 indicates Loss of tachometer input/IDM circuit failure/SPOUT circuit grounded. I still don't know what to do about it, but I am trying to track it down. I am not sure if the code is valid or not, since I can't run the engine to get it up to operating temperature. I long for the good old days when a guy could keep his Ford running with a dime and a screwdriver.
