Hello everyone! These are the shocks in my price range/deciding on. Prices between 219 to 231 all six delivered to the door. Dick cepek series 77 or 88, procomp es9000, gabriel max control. I have a 95 bronc, 4x4 with 5.0, stock quad shocks suspension and I have 30x9.5 LT tires 35 to 40lbs pressure. Old set of monroe gas mags or matics (lable is worn out) not sure on back. I have been all over the internet trying to find people who used these, most response is with procomp which I'm leaning towards. Any comments on the other 2. This thing rides worse than a log truck, Rough and Jarring on road even worse offroad. I do light to moderate offroading once in a while and medium towing. I need something smoother. I can't go higher due to replacing manual locking hubs warns, brakes and rotors and all front bearings and seals. Yes autolocking hub victim while hunting. Bilstiens, rancho are out of my price range. I am considering going up to a 32" tire next year. Thanks anyone who can help.
just put a set of four gabriel shocks on my ole ladies explorer and what a mistake. talk about a lumber wagon was hoping that with time they would loosen up but no luck. when i told the clerk at the parts store he said we hear alot of that about gabriels
I read/heard the same thing about gabriel. The mechanic that works on some of my families cars and his wife said they were garbage she had them on her car. So I decided to go a different route, probably wind up being in the same boat but at half the cost. Several places had the old edelbrock ias twin tube shocks on sale so I gave them a try at least wont cost as much plus if they don't work for me I can give them to my brother. Cost was 140 to the door. I'll send another message soon as I get the beast on the street. Thanks again!
I don't like to "bad mouth" anyone or product,But from experience,I would stay away from Gabriel. The cheapest Monroe (matic or matic-plus) is better. No experience with Cepek,All the Pro-comps I've installed have held up so far.
I have ran Rancho RS9000 shocks on my last 2 4X4s and wouldn't go with anything else.
They are adjustable which helps if you are going offroad you can soften them and if you are hauling a good load or towing you can stiffen them up which helps handle the weight.
4wheel parts wholesaler usually has sales on them to put them in close to that price range. Buy 3 get 1 free.
Just my 2 cents.

I was just down here looking for info on Stockton Wheels and saw this. Sounds like Edelbrock it is. But if those don't work out. I'd go with a set of Rancho 5000's. Not a bad shock, it has a lifetime warranty, and only cost around $160 or so for 4. I had a set of these on a '97 Nissan Pathfinder and they worked pretty good.
Fortunatly that reply from summit was wrong. I purchased the rear ones they had and baught the rest off of ebay. These replaced the monroe gas mags quad set up on stock suspension. Man what a difference! I like them a whole lot better on road. Even the wife says they are better. I do light to medium off roading and same for towing but as luck would have it duck season is over so will have to try the other situations later. For the bucks and the short time I've had them they are great. One thing I did find out I will need new springs all the way around due to saging. The other shocks masked the problem because the pistons were forced out because of the pressure, the twin tube ias stays in the same position they are left at.
