I have a 99 XLT 4x4 4.0 with the off road suspension, and while I love how beefy that sounds... I'll be perfectly honest and admit that it's killin my back driving to work on it everyday.
What can I do to smooth out and soften the ride? I really don't do any offroading, it just happened to come with the truck when I bought it used a month ago :-)
Would a cheaper set of shocks help, like say a low or middle end set of Gabriels?
Shocks mostly dampen the spring forces. I think you need softer springs. Maybe take out a few leafs and add air bags for when you need the extra capacity.
