(The **** stays attached to the shaft). The manual says the wiper **** has a setscrew but I haven't tried to remove it.
I've never done it myself, but from what I hear, "trick" ain't a bad description of the process. Goes something like this.
There's a little flat spring clip inside the **** hole that runs parallel to the switch shaft. It's only accessible from the back of the ****. Take something small and flat, like a bobby pin and bend it in the shape of a "J". Then reach into the little slot in the back of the ****, press the spring up, and slide it off.
If you look at the **** itself, you will see a notch in the edge closest to the dash. That is the spot where you have to use the "J" tool described above-. Apply pressure with the tool at that point while pulling gently on the ****. Reminder- unlike the headlight switch- only the **** comes off. The shaft stays in the switch.

Oh Yeah, I don't have intermitent wipers if that makes a difference.

You just need to trip it by inserting the clipped-off hair-pin into the notch on front of the ****, and then pull it AND the hair-pin away from the dash at the same time. Steve

That way you slide it into the notch underneath the **** to catch the spring steel and pull the **** and the screwdriver slowly towards you.
