Arm Got Frozen With Show Tried To Move It Swings Frely Did It Just Come Off Spline How To I Put It On Again Cant Get It Off To Reset it And Put On Again CaN I Pry Off With Screwdriver Afraid To Break It
When you had it off (arm), was there a 'spline' fit for the arm? I am trying to adjust mine but can't. I removed the plastic cover and the nut (easily). But the arm won't 'release'.
What's the trick? Any body know? I pry'd on it with a reasonable amount of force but she won't slide off.

I recently had to tighten the bolt on my passenger side b/c the wiper wouldn't turn when the motor was on (it moved freely as well). The cap that covers the bolt at the beginning of the wiper arm is a pain to get off if you don't have a really skinny flatheaded screwdriver to pry it off, once off though it's a 5/8" nut (from memory, probably wrong though!) and all i had to do was align it to the window and retighten. That did the trick.
The surface on the wiper arm that mates to the wiper linkage is smooth and conical in shape. The stud that the arm mounts on has extremely fine splines, almost too smooth to catch the edge of your fingernail.
I used channel locks to take my arms off. One jaw under the wiper arm, the other on top of the stud.
Just keep your fingers and fat part of your palm from between the channel lock arms, or you will get a good pinch and a big red spot when the wiper turns loose. It didn't happed to me when I did this, but I have pinched my fingers and palms enough to know to watch out now.
I ended up switching my driver and passenger arms with each other so they would sit the way I wanted them to. Now the drivers side wipes almost to the windshield post instead of leaving a 4" space untouched. They are both supposed to be the same, but there is a small difference somewhere in mine.
Indeed, they are two different arms. The driver's side has a small bend in it and the passengers is a bit more 'straight' (for lack of a better description). The driver's side 'bend' is there so that it looks 'level' when in stow, and so that the line on the wind shield from the rain; is vertical.
Actually, I wish I had two with the bend in them.
ANYWAY, the only way to get them off is with channel locks? How did ya handle that and not break the plastic valence that runs along the bottom of the windshield? Yikes.
