the 130 amp -closed eye holes they tried to sell me (parts store) was wrong model. Got 110amp (model w/ open eyeholes on bottom) as pictured in link. Now waiting for another to replace it. Has to be shipped (midweek). Will find out then, I guess. If not might try the 130 amp. I'll post results of it then.
In reality I think thats a bunch of bull. I can't tell you how many times I have run my bartteries down to nothing by accident or on purpose and jumped it and drove away and never killed an alt. Plus the SD alts are heavy duty its not gonna hurt them unless there's something wrong with it to start with. On some vehicles that may be the case cause the alts are sized too small.

It's not a bunch of bull becuase it happened to me. I left my lights on several times, wore the battery down and the next thing I know I got a bad alternator. Just a coincidence?
*I didn't mean your situation I meant the warning on the boxes when you get an alt. It say's exactly what you said....Make sure the battery is fully charged.
My take on that is its crap and my 35 years of rebuilding alternators and working on everything that runs and blows up, backs me up..
