Weird light problem

On my 2006 FX4, when I start the truck in the dark with the drivers side door open, as soon as it fires up, the interior lights fade out as if you just shut the door but the door is still open. Pretty inconvenient when I start my truck in the dark early in the morning and trying to load my work crap into the truck. Have to shut the door then open it again for the interior lights to stay on.
Anyway to change this?

This posted on another forum. This is happening with my truck also. Dose anyone have any ideas.

When you reach in to start your truck why don't you turn on the overhead lights with the dash dimmer control.?

Lights

I shouldn't have to do that. If the door is open then the lights should stay on....

Does your truck have the system display center on the bottom right of the speedo cluster?

If so, whats the auto-dim set to?

James, I was just thinking about this the other day myself. I have an 06 XLT, and Mine does it to. Just like you, I try to load my maps and gear early in the a.m, and the dang light shuts off. Why doesn't the light stay on? The door IS still open, hence, the light should be on.....Strange system

A better question then would be; Does anyone have a truck that does NOT do this?

Wow, I had hoped that someone had a resolution for this issue by now. Regardless, my question still stands

Also, something strange happened the other morning. I started my truck and the light stayed on. I didn't do anything different and it hasn't done it since, so I'm still mystified by this small problem.

My dome light goes out after whatever times it tells it to go out. I like this as often I will leave a door adjar and the auto light switch possibly saves me a battery recharge. This is perhaps the reason that the dome light goes out, to save battery when it is expected that no dome is needed.
