The reason is some engineer at Ford though it was a good feature to insure you did not run battery down or something like that.

Or some consumer group mentioned it as something nice in a survey.

I have no idea where and when these consumer groups are formed or how they give feed back. They are a reason for having 18 cup holders in your vehicle, and stupid tray and bins everywhere to stuff items.

Then Ford engineering does things like remove glove box lights and under hood lights as a cost savings, screw the people driving the truck they should carry a flashlight in one of those bins we designed in and we ( Ford ) will stick the $0.50 cents back in our pocket, not reduce the price of the truck. What that mud sheild keep grim out of the engine compartment???? If we take it out we save $1.00 a vehicle. A BUCK thats one millon a year why is that still there get in out now! Bring that change in during the black out it is going to save us a BUCK!!

Sorry I have a hard time with the rediculus items they "think" need to be in a vehcile that have nothing to do with driving it, working on it or keeping it clean.

Cup holders belong in an armchair, or a pool floaty not in a vehicle.
