sorry, i know there was a post on this topic but i couldn't find it. has any one figured out what the noise is coming from the back seat? i have an 04 screw and it sounds like the back window is rattling. anyopne have any ideas?? thanks.
I had my rear window seals replaced under warranty and it still rattles. It is hard to figure out where the rattle is coming from. I really need to have someone sit in the back seat while I drive.
The link pasted above by cdestuck mentions "new parts" that Ford is using to address this problem. Guess a guy has to make sure the "new" parts are used, not the old. I have about 200 miles on my 05 Crew. I have a rattle in the headliner (TSB is out there) and suspect that the other rattle I hear might be the rear glass. Just wanted to mention that you might have more than one rattle. The headliner rattle is most noticable when shutting the doors. It's also heard when hitting big potholes.
200 miles and already planning my first trip for repairs...................
I have a 04 xlt screw with the sliding rear window had the same problems took it back to the dealer last week and they put a new complete sliding rear window in it,so far so good but its only been a week and since the truck has about 21,000 miles on it and until a couple of months ago it was rattle free I figure about the time the warranty expires it will start again. The service manager also told me that one of the mechanics there had a new f150 and his sliding rear window did the same thing.
Mine does the same thing, but only in cooler temperatures..like in the mid 40's. I don't notice it when it is raining, so I wonder if the rubber seal needs to be lubed or something and the rain helps out?
Mine only did it in colder tempatures too.It was fine the first year or so that I owned the truck. It just started doing it this winter as soon as the temps. got colder. It might be due in part to the plastic frame the window sets in,plastic and rubber both harden in cold tempature's which could cause the squeaking and rattling.
I just came back from the dealership. What they did was remove the rear window, apparently there was crap stuck on the railings of the window so they cleaned it, lubed it up with silicone, now the noise is gone. Good luck
My rear window started rattling after 5k miles, mostly in cold weather. The dealership applied grease as per "TSB 5-24-03B" . The rattle in gone, now whether or not it will come back only time will tell. At least it's something I can do if it's out of warranty. It's oh so quiet now!!
I will be taking my 04 Lariat back to the dealer during this week of vacation. It will be the third time for this same rear window rattle. The first time in for service they changed the rear window track. The second time, they said they could not duplicate the discrepancy. Now, I will take that TSB 5-24-03B with me and see what they can figure out. This rattle has been giving me fits for over two years now, especially in cold weather. I did notice if I open the rear slider and wiggle the rubber molding on the bottom I can get it to squeak, maybe that is what I am hearing. I don't seem to have a problem when its above 55 degrees. If I were to order another truck, it definately wouldn't have the "Rear Power Sliding window"!
