Help! Rear Hatch Window Rattle!!
Hi folks. New to the discussion. I signed up because I'm still searching for the answer to the rear window hatch rattle in my 2001 Escape. Started to get really annoying at 48,000 miles and it now has 52,000. Ford Dealer can't fix it - they say that they lubed and tightened everything but the second I drive over a pothole, it starts rattling again like crazy. It's more than just a rattle, it sounds like a chirping animal back there! The scraping sound against glass, high-pitched annoyance is so bad, I actually have contemplated taking a hammer to the thing. Help! I read that someone fixed this with black electrical tape - but I tried this (everywhere possible) and that didn't do it. Any other suggestions? Does this only effect the 2001 Escape or do other years have it too?

Are the little rubber bumpers under each bottom corner of the glass missing? I lost one of mine the first or second time I washed it. They pull out easily while toweling the metal dry with the window open. I replaced them with a couple of clear stick-ons for cabinet doors.

I fixed my 2002 with tape on the window latch. Could yours be coming from the hatch itself? A few have had problems with the hatch but I don't recall the fix...possibly realigning or replacing the hatch "catch".
