My door hinges on my '75 F-100 were in really sad shape. The bushings were all but gone and the pins were wore through at least 1/4 of the way on some. I called around and was told there wasn't an aftermarket repair kit ( tho one place offered me the bushings...lots of good they do without pins huh ? ) so I went to my local Ford dealer who sold me a set of " Universal " hinge pins....which were about 1/8" short and didn't go all the way through the hinge. I asked about just getting a new set of hinges and I was quoted a price of $400.00 a set, it seems Ford discontinuted the hinges by themselves, but they're more than happy to sell you a door, hinges included. Has anyone else run into this problem ? Anyone else find the slightly longer pins ? I have ( I'm told ) the comercial duty truck btw...I was told by n old Ford guy that the comercial vehicles use one key for both door and ignition, while the consumer version uses two different ones. Thanks !!
Any particular year and model Chevy ? I called NAPA first and they said they didn't carry them for '75 Ford...they had a whole bunch before, and a whole bunch after tho =)
