Which cat delete pipe will work well with a mbrp cat back system? Also I would like to be able to reinstall it for returns to the dealership. aAny help would be great.
***NEW*** All 2003-Up 6.0L Turbo Back systems maintain factory catalytic converter. A Test Pipe can be used to replace the Cat. PN: MB-FS9-414 sold below.
I would have to assume all there systems are designed to work with the stock cat and therefore the mounting flanges on both ends should be the same dimensions as stock
Only works with the turbo back set up. The ad for the cat test pipe specifically says turbo back system only.
yeah, but read above, they advertise that their turbo back system works with stock cat, so their turbo back system is designed around the stock cat, therefore their test pipe must be of the same dimension and size as the cat....which he is still currently using on the cat back system...
The turo back system can use the cat, but its further back. If you retain the original down pipe it might fall short. The test pipe and cat are the same length, but the down pipes are not. At least on an 03 their not. The mbrp down pipe was a good 1" longer
Call us if you want we have been selling MBRP longer than anyone else and have answered it all one time or another. The MBRP cat pipe ONLY works on the turbo back MBRP systems as the Ford quality control is very very lacking concerning their down pipe to cat connection. The stock system uses a 3.0 down pipe to a 3.5 inch cat connection, as you can imagine the seal area is vert large when you go from smaller to larger, the MBRP is a 3.5 to a 3.5 so the seal area is designed differently and will not seal if you use the stock Ford down pipe. There is not problem with length of the earlier to later trucks etc it's just the seal area. The best thing to do is get a turbo back as you get better spool up and better flow anyway, if that's not what you want to do get a cat back and the Ford 7.3 delete pipe and cut it to fit your 6.0. Call us if you have any questions we'll be glad to help you.
When I put my MBRP on I deleted the cat but left it there. An air chisel with a very long bit made that magic (and black sooty mess) happen. The MBRP is an awesome system.
