Made the purchase MBRP..BUT???

Well, I finally ordered my turbo back 4" MBRP exhaust system and it was delivered last Monday. I think I really screwed up... I was undecided on which system to go with (409 or 304 ) but finally went with the 409 Stainless Steel cause I wanted to save a few bucks... anyhow, when deciding on which system to order. I knew I wanted to run without the kitty most of the time, but didn't want to get any crap from the Dealership about the Cat delete. I ran accross the 4" TURBO BACK 409 STAINLESS EXHAUST- "Off Road"- Cat Delete system, MBRP part #:S6212409. I went with this thinking I would be all set to run without the kitty and then re-install it if I needed to go in for warranty/service work..... After opening up the box it looks like I will not be about to ever swap the kitty back in because all of the pipes are "slip in" type, ie. no flange. I haven't looked under the truck yet to verify this, but I don't think this system will do what I want. Does anyone know of any way to remedy this???

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Tim

Its not a problem. The cat bolts onto the downpipe then from there it all just slips in. I swap out my cat when its time for inspection and the time it had to go back to the dealer for some minor issues. Goodluck and go out and install it, these trucks sound sweet with out a cat and muffler.

I don't think he's going to be able to just install the cat like you say. On my MKO 4" turbo back straight pipe there is no way to mount the cat. Probably should have ordered the kit that used the factory cat and ordered the cat delete test pipe, but I don't know how MBRP's systems are set up.

You have to have the flange at the end of the downpipe to bolt the stock cat back up.

You MAY be able to swap the kit out with the seller. You are between a rock and a hard place that's for sure.

I know you don't want to spend more money but the MBRP 3.5" downpipe will work, but I'm not sure about the rest of the kit.

I believe the offroad kit doesn't have the flange on the down pipe. As others have said you need the regular kit and a cat delete with the flange. And unfortunately the delete won't work with the stock down pipe. I would try to swap downpipes with whoever you purchased from.

You need the "street" kit and then order a cat delete which has the flanges.

I believe there are adapter kits (for lack of a better word) that will allow you to run the stock cat on a 4" system.

I actually think you need the new downpipe, or at least the second (rear) section. Most MBRP kits have a 2 piece downpipe and the second half has the flange for the cat. The stock cat has a flange so you won't be able to just slip it in. I bet if you ask the company you bought it from to swap the downpipe you'll be all set. Hope this helps any.

Well, I figured that was the case. I'll just try to swap out the down pipe (or at least lower half of it) and buy a "Cat Delete Test pipe" Thanks for the replies

Just don't be surprised if your fuel consumption increases...You'll think you're in an f-14 ready for take off and you won't be able to keep off the throttle. Good luck.

I've been hearing about these exhausts for what seems like forever. Now that the warranty's end is in sight and my current exhaust is starting to rattle a bit I looking to purchase one. My question to all of you "experts" is what are the pros and cons of 3.5" down pipe and a 4"? I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with the test pipe but I hear about with and without the muff, is there substantial gain? The last is duals or single? I like the looks of the duals but other than that will there be a performance/economy change? I'm gonna keep the stock filter set up most likely on my 03 but plan on talking to Matt this spring. If all goes as planned I will have the funds to do alot. Thanks guys.

That's weird my Magnaflow turbo back off road kit is all slip on, but it has a slip-on pipe with a flange on the other end that the cat bolts onto, of course you don't use this peice unless you want to put the cat in, but they threw it in the kit anyways . I guess that is just Magnaflow for ya!
