Tranny filter troubles
Hey guys: I went to change my external tranny filter today on my 04 F-250, 6.0 and could not get it to unscrew. I actually broke off the hex on the bottom of the canister. Has anybody changed this filter and if so how did you get it apart? Thanks for your input.

Hey just hit it lightly with an impact...it'll spin right off.
Oh...damn I just re-read your post...you broke the hex? Did you have your socket on flush when you were torquing on it? It is possible to take it off for the first time with hand tools...it usually just bends the bracket, and when you re-tighten it the bracket bends back. It's a good idea to hit the threads with something like PB blaster before hand when doing it this way
Man...I don't know how your going to get it off now. I suppose you could hit the threads with PB blaster and try an oil filter wrench.
