There is a module behind the dash below where the radio slides in. It is directly behind what is an open pocket in my 94 F-150 XLT ( I believe it would be for holding an equilizer or something). The module is about the size of a CD case just about twice as thick though. It has a blue cover on one side and a black cover on the other. It started beeping the other day when I replaced my lightbulb for my air bag light in the dash. I put the original light bulb back in but it still beeps. It does a three beep pattern upon placing the ignition switch ot the on position about 4 times then stops. Is this module part of my my airbag control? There is a component on the circuit board once you open it up that is labled f1. there are 2 outer leads and and 2 inner leads. The outer leads read very high resistance across them. The inner leads have a very small solid state device between them and they read 15 ohms across. I'm wondering if I have blown the fuse and the inner leads on f1 control an audible signal that you have blown the fuse for your airbag module?
Unit is probably the air bag diagnostic monitor (basic part no. 14B056) and it is beeping because the air bag system is not working.
Search for "mysterious beeping from dash area??????????????" for explanation and codes.
You should be getting a flashing code since you replaced the air bag light - be careful probing around the air bag leads, the system is probably disabled by the beeping (internal air bag diagnostic moniitor fuse blown??) - you dont want to set off airbag for the fun of it.
check for codes and post back.
I took the part to ford, it is the diagnostic module for the air bag. The cost is several hundred dollars, it's now unplugged. the air bag light was blinking. I don't need no stinking airbag!
I just bought a 94 F150 4x2 with the I-6 5spd. and the air bag light flashes, and I too have heard a beeping or buzzing noise occationally after shutting the ignition off. My solution, a small peice of electrical tape over the airbag light and ignore the beeping.
Do a search or "air bag switch" or "clock switch" on here.
Does your horn and cruise work too? Usually the air bag switch in the column under the wheel will goout. It's the free spinning electrical connection that passes the electricity and signals for the horn, cruise, and airbag.
It costs about $90 at the dealer and took me about 45 min to change.
Also, my ABS light flashed for a long time then the horn and cruise quit working. The ABS module would beep every now and then BUT only in the morning when it was cold. That's not too often down here in New Orleans, LA. I figured it was a sensor under the grill that was faulty or had a loose connection. It hasn't beeped in about 9 months......
