Snowplowing

Kenny- I'm along to shore of lake micihigan, between Holland and Saugatuck, that is the south west corner of the lower penninsula if you're looking at the map. We have taken some family vacations in the upper penninsula, thats where my heart is. Here in the lower I've watched the city I live near grow from 25,000 to 75000 as the city absorbs all of the small communitys that used to surround it, and becomes one big metropolis-yuk. When taking vacations, we go north and stay with a friend in L'anse (pop 1,200). Last year between Xmas and new years, it was 0 degrees and there was four feet of snow. I thought it was heaven. My buddy clears his 3/4 mile drive with a 6 foot wide snowthrower on a tractor. We are hoping to get there again at thanksgiving. Here at home in lower its 34 degrees on sunday morning of oct. 29, no snow but the cold is encouraging. Where are you? DF

DF, I'm on the east coast in Piscataway, New Jersey, about 2 miles from Rutgers University. I had always pictured in my head that all the shores of Lake Michigan always got hammered with snow. I guess the lake effect stuff is more on the southeast shores? I keep hearing that this is going to be a good year for us plowers here in Jersey, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll be heading up to Northern Maine later this week on a hunting trip. Our buddy up there says they had 2 feet last week, and 4" today. I hope you really enjoy your vacation, and I wish you a very safe trip.

Kenny, Where in "northern Maine" are you hunting?? I live in the Bucksport-Ellsworth area, which is (depending on where you're from), by some accounts, "northern Maine". Good hunting to you...and please...get rid of some these pesky pain-in-the-##### deer running around here.
Yours in haste,
Skippy

North of Patten and Shin Pond, up by Baxter State Park. I used to come through Ellsworth when going to Acadia National Park. Beautiful country up there by you!! Had a friend who was a milkman around the Bar Harbor area, and We used to go up to visit.
