All I can say is build more non-descript crossovers and small cars and fade slowly into the sunset. Build more cars like the Mustang (with heritage and personality), redesign the Ranger (add a V-8 option, and a Ranger King Ranch too), upgrade the F-series with improved powerplants (more powerful gas and improved reliability diesel engines) and the company will turn around.
keep the town car, bring back the mark VIII and continental, redesign the E-series and ranger, make the 07 super duty look like a real truck, and start building reliable RWD cars again.
read today's N.Y.times GM is going to back up priceing big time to compeat against toyota, with it's toyota, lexus. hino, brands. and the big three better watch out even more toyota is going to start pushing hino trucks here harder by building them in canada. along with a planed 3/4 -1ton pickup .
our american car makers better take a very good look at priceing and build quailty here or they will be gone.
Ford's biggest problem is that he's a follower - not a leader. In the past Ford introduced new vehicle, then everybody else followed (Mustang, Taurus ...). Now its other way around. Ford is leader in truck market; however, they recently introduced truck that is supposed to be competition to Honda Ridgeline............... They're following Honda which never had truck in their entire history.
Look at Chrysler for example. When they introduced 300 and Magnum those 2 cars were like nothing else on the market. People liked them, people bought them and Chrysler's sales are up.
Ford should build cars like 429 Concept or 49 Concept. Those were awesome looking cars that should exist.
