Can someone tell me what would be the stock amperage on my 1995 F350 7.3L alternator? I'm trying to buy an inverter so I can run and space heater/ power tools/ laptop/ heck....coffee maker If I want hahaha. But the 3000watt inverter draws 300amps at full capacity....125amps at 1500watts. The company said I would be able to run the inverter but not charge the batteries at the same time....I know the alternator is not 300 amps, but I do not want to be drawing from my batteries while driving.....always running 'em down. (the most power hungry appliance is the space heater at 1500watts)
By the way....space heater.....very useful in the Yukon...-40 is common in winter....and since I live only 10 minutes from work....I would never have a warm cab
Where can I find....good...cheap aftermarket alterantors that would satisfy my power needs?
The ambulance package F series comes with a 200 amp alternator. Police vehicles run 200, 250, or 300 amp alternators. Some special applications, campers delivery trucks, etc. run up to a 500 amp alternator. My quess on the best place to check would be with a local alternator repair shop. I have no idea what price they run.
I just installed a 3000watt Vector inverter in my mule. Used a pair of really big 6v 235AH golfcart batteries to feed it, using 4/0 welding cable to the inverter and 6ga welding cable from the truck batteries for charging. I have a 175amp isolator relay in the 6ga charging line with a manual switch that isolates the new batteries from the truck batteries. I haven't seen how long the inverter will handle a load, but after running my computer for 6 hours, the voltage was just under 12v. Recharge took about 2 hours.
