ohms law, trying to figure out a inverter, electricians needed....

I am trying to figure how many amps of power draw there would be on my 60 amp alternature if I run a inverter...

so lets have an example..

say i have a 1500 watt inverter

i go 1500w divide by 110v = 13.64 amps (at 110v remember)

so how do i cross that over to 12v coming from my vehicle????

this is just a shot in the dark but is it 13.64 amps X 12v?? = 163.68 amps draw ????

thinking more like 1500/12 = 125A That's at full load though.

There are different types of inverters and different efficiencies. See the following link from Tripp-Lite. Their 1800 Watt Inverter requires about 200 Amp at 12V input.
