Saturday, my rear gate window started acting weird, slow, fast updown motion and then didn't work at all. Down but no up??????
I spent yesterday looking for a fix. After tearing the motor out and lubing the mechanism, I decided to check the latch interlock. The plug was corroded so I cleaned it with some Rubbing Alcohol used some dielectric grease and it works fine! Guess I got a new maintenance item.
I am 99% sure that the problem is the "torque pins" inside the window motor. Its a very common problem......you will hear the motor running and the glass may bump around a bit but dont go up. Here is a pic of the gear.......BTW its a VERY easy fix!
I did that while I had it tore down just because it was a good time to do it. My pins weren't that bad and the gear was solid so I was probably okay. The latch switch plug was the real problem.
So then I am assuming you have fixed it??? If not what many people here do is just jump the safety switch out of the system. The safety switch is also a very common cause for the failure of the rear window to work correctly.
