Since installing some upgrades to my '92 Bronco, it's having some trouble in the colder weather. On initial start, the truck starts right up, idles @1100 then dies when fast idle kicks off. Re-start idles @1400 then is ok @ 600 when fast idle kicks off.
My motor has the following:
5.0L 302 HO
Stock Heads w/ short side raius porting
Comp Cam 35-255-5
Summit Shorty Headders
Stock Y-Pipe
Open Cat
Single Flowmaster
I'm guessing the engine is flowing better now and has thrown off the speed density mappings, but that's just a guess.
check for vaccuum leaks and also check your idle air control valve. you can check it with a 9 volt battery. just get some wires and hook them up to the leads and then hook it up to the leads on the idle air control valve if it is good you will here the cork pop.
Just wanted to follow up with the resolution. Talking to the guy at the parts store he suggested a coolant temp sensor, it was cheap, $16 compared to $65 for the idle air control valve. So I went for the coolant temp sensor since it was probably never replaced anyway. The truck starts gret in the morning now. He also said that it could help my mileage. I filled up the tank last night, so if things look good there as well, I'll let you all know.
