I have a 1986 F-150 short bed 351 w aut. 9" rear . I would like to lower it about 2" front and 3" rear. I know about the dream beams to lower the front but they are a little over budget @ 500.00 . And I don't want to change the tire set up I currenly have.Does anyone know of another way, that won't screw up the handleing and geometrics of the truck. I'm just looking for ideas.
I have an 82 F100 shortbox that I have lowered probably about 3 inches in the front and 4 or so in the back. Here is a pic of the stance:
The tires are 225/70R-15's and the rears are 325/50R-15 MT ET Street Radials.
I still have the stock beams. The front, I originally put lowering coils in the front, but now I went to Eibach Mustang Drag Launch springs, but I basically cut the lower spring mount up so just the widest part was left and that went between the i-beam and coil. On the rear, I have 2" drop springs, pulled the overload springs off(that lowered it about an inch or so) and also moved the front spring mounts up higher on the frame. The truck is in storage right now, but if you need pics of the front, I can go take some and post them, but here is a pic of the altered front rear spring mount.
This pic was taken before everything was cleaned up and painted, so it looks kinda rough.
