Took it to Pure Power Performance in Victoria Texas yesterday. I was a bit surprised when we were done. Stock '05, six speed, 4.10's, SC, LB, 4x4, etc...
1st pull:
239hp
496ft lbs
2nd:
237hp
507ft lbs
The speed limiter cut in at 96mph, which was approx. 4300 rpm. I'm sure there are a few more hp lurking in the next 1000 rpm or so. The manual trans trucks also have a RPM limiter that cuts in at 5300. Never saw it.
The X-Cal 2 will be installed before I make the next trip.
I'm wondering the same thing, although he said something about hitting the speed limiter, so it can't be 1st/2nd/3rd, gotta be 5th or 6th.
the speed limiter cutting in at 4300 rpm certainly killed his hp numbers, but the 496 ft lbs of tq are also confusing. The motor as suppsed to be 460-ish. Sounds like something is wrong somewhere.
The truck was run in fourth gear, because that is the closest to a 1:1 ratio.
This was the first '05 the shop had on their dyno. An '04 Excursion with an auto trans made approx. 205hp.
I should have mentioned the dyno in question is a Mustang, NOT a DynoJet. DJ figures are usually a bit higher.
Krewat, the only real world numbers I have ever seen that correspond to what Ford claims have been the 5.0 in a Mustang. I'm sure they knew more than a few would wind up on a dyno!
Yes, the numbers are strange. Most dyno charts I have seen are with an auto. trans. This is a first for me too. Does anyone remember who had the last '05 on a dyno? I saw some numbers not to long ago, but cannot think who it was.
I think I'm going to e-mail the printouts to Lonnie, and see if he can shed any light on what we are seeing.
Edit to add- Sorry, brain fart. It was run in fifth. I ignore 'low' gear due to the fact it is useless unless pulling an extremely heavy load. I really consider it a five speed as does Ford due to the way the numbers on the shift **** are printed.

i had the same speed problem .we had to make all the pulls holding my auto back in 3rd till we got the ecal 2 tuned and set.
base line stock on mine was 248.8 hp and 293.2 torqe with a bad senser not letting mine go into full throttle inrichment. the excal2 took care of many of fords little hold em backs.like the auto trans torqe limiting program. some thing your shop should able to over come. check out my gallery. for some toys that helped. on a p.s those dyno numbers where me and nisar
