it gets better with drygas, but it allways comes back.
It SEEMS like water in the gas, but as much as its been treated lately it shouldn't come back if it was water in the fuel.
BUT it acts like water in the fuel. this has been a WET and warm winter and its the first winter in a long time that we haven't had oxygenated (alchohol added ) gas in the winter.
my 79 has been having some trouble water if the fuel too.
It started running crappy today and drygas and 2 gallons of fuel made it run like a top instantly.

You've got a point... I was looking up acetone and using it as a gas dryer/mileage improver and ran across something about these tanks the gas stations have. There is no way for the water to escape once it gets in, so we could be putting water in every tank.
Back when you guys had the MBTE and OXY/Alchy gas mixes, those additives acted as a dryer agent. Now that you don't have to do the winter gas mix...ding!
Bob, you're a genius. Has Kev tried the gas dryer and gotten similar results?
Going back to the timing light irregularity..... Maybe that spark is finding an alternate path to ground occasionally. (?) I remember you said you had an MSD cap and rotor, how old are they?

Yes, but when the problem came back AGAIN, I assumed that wasnt it.
I bought more yesterday afternoon, it hasnt done it since, so either my gremlin is taking a vacation, or that really is what is wrong.

BDOX, the MSD cap and rotor are Brand new (less than a month old) as are the ford racing wires and the plugs, and the Duraspark box. Not to mention brand new grounds. All due to me throwing money at this problem. The irregular timing light miss is gone now.
I think Bob may be right after all, and it may just be water in the gas, what a nightmare its been, and very frustrating
