64 ford instrument panel

Worked on some wiring problems most of the weekend. I noticed that no one seems to offer a replacment guage panel/insert for a 64. Should I clean up the original and see about having a shop re-crome the panel? Also any suggestions on a company that would offer a new center guage? Someone already put in an aftermarket water temp and oil pressure guage(these will be replaced also).

Is it me or is the 1964 and the 223 engine the red headed step child. Seems to be several things not offered for these trucks. When you look at the 50's you could almost order a whole truck piece by piece.

thanks

It seems after FOMOCO toss & turned with unibodies and even prior with the true Stepchild trucks 57-60; aftermarket parts where not on the top of the list; however if I'm not mistakin; (someone else probably knows better) you can use the 65 /66 custom cab speedo bezel; and I've seen acouple of aftermarkets companies produce a pretty sharp version to include a tach built into the bezel as well. (Check Custom Classic Trucks recent magazine) I was lucky enough to come across a nice chrome standard type bezel when I purchase my last Slick. I actually removed it from my daily driver & replace it with a White bezel; until I'm ready to restore another Slick. And its true 64 below look like they all match up;but the 65 & 66 seems to be more popular due to easier upgrades like suspension & comfort options.

The dash panels can be found all over e-bay - usually cheap. With gauges, without, with extras, etc. As for the speedo cluster, except for the housing the 66-76 bronco (not exactly sure if those are the correct yrs) used the same gauge cluster, and they also had the amp and oil gauges inplace of the lights.

The 65-66 sweep style speedo will swap.

My speedo cluster /w all gauges is from a bronco, the dash panel I got off e-bay for less than 10$.

So that I don't appear rude. You have a legitimate question. The light and **** on the right is for emergency flashers, When you pull the **** out the red light flashes as a reminder that your hazards are on. It was an option back then. Dealer installed

Thank you for the response.

Yes it is an old post, but the question is directly related to the topic.

I wanted to know about '64 ford instrument panel', I searched found a topic and posted.

If I created a new topic, someone would have complained that the topic already exists.

You assume " someone would have complained that the topic already exists." Lately there have been a few New guys/gals that have dug up threads from the dark side. They post like it's a new thread, this gets old quick.
Start a thread and ask your question, if it's been asked, you'll most likely get a link to the subject.
If it's on a thread that never had closure, shame on the OP's for that.
Most of us would like to see a thread from start to finish. We would like to know what worked and what didn't. That is the fault of members already here but it's getting better.
If you skin is thin you might not like blunt answers or blunt comments. But if it's thick enough, you will get answers.
Everyone here tries to make sure a thread gets closure from the original problem, but you do get people who piggy-back on a thread keeping it unanswered.
If you've been on other forums then you know how to respect the forum. If you choose to leave, then you miss out on a bunch of knowledgeable people giving great advise. The choice is yours, Your probably older than most but not older than all. Sit back read awhile and you'll understand the problems we go through regarding "Proper Etiquette."
