Magnetic drain plug

In changing my oil in my 99, I just noticed for the 1st time that my drain plug is magnetic... I was a bit surprised. I was looking on the internet for a magnetic drain plug for a SD and I had one and did not know it. So i guess it should be inspected and cleaned during an oil change.. Just thought I would pass this along..

Hopefully it doesn't require cleaning. Metal on the mag is never a good sign.

Maybe it was on the 6.0 forum or something else but, somebody was asking since the stock plug is magnetic and the Fumoto drain valve is not would it be ok to use? What you gurus think?

I guess it would depend on why the drain valve was installed. If the folks installing them are doing so to make getting oil samples easier, then the report would do more than the mag plug could.
