I have never seen a 1979 F350 4x4, I consider this a rare find. Buy the truck, and in 1979, that year Ford put it all together, which included standard features, like disk brakes, power steering, probably has the trailer towing lights on the cab. If you were to restore this truck and sell it later, it would be worth lots and lots of money "$$$$$$" sha- shing. It would also be one heck of a truck to drive. Let me know if you don't buy it.
I own a 79 4x4 350, and let me tell u the dana 60 front is true, what is not so true is the rear dana 70 my truck has a dana 60 with 30 splines, as most of the 79 350 i have seen, other users of the forum that own 79 350 4x4 stated that they have dana 60 rears. ford literature shows that f250 and 350 had a 2300 lbs rear axles, in my personal opinion a 79 350 is just a 250 with a bigger front axle,
also a 79 350 4x4 sits taller that a 250 cause of the bigger front axle and taller rear blocks, like 3.5 inches
79 f36 is correct. The 79 F350 4x4 was D60 front and Rear only. NO DANA 70 rear.. If you really want and expert on this, contact Skip at TSM Mfg in Colorado. He used to own a recovery service and at one time owned over 15 1979 F350 4x4 Cab/Chassis trucks. All had D60 rears..
If it does have a D70 rear, cool. But someone swapped it in there. Send the BOM # or a pic for reference. Manytimes the D70's and D60's can look the same under a truck with some rust and mud on 'em..
