You wouldn't happen to have a spare hood in good shape would you? Mine is rust free but needs some dents removed so I wouldn't mind replacing it insted of repairing dents.
Both of the hoods I have need dent repair One of them should be a cake walk though (no bondo just pound it out from underneath)
Of course it's been a few months since I've actually looked at my hoods so when it stops raining and I don't have to swim to the shed I'll check them out again.
I think that's rather high price wise. Mine was $400 and I got 2 other non running (1 complete just been sitting for years) trucks. Then I purchased another 65 complete for $800.
Man I think you ran across a few unusually great deals. Congrats! But personally I think that anyone who finds an antique pickup with with a "7 out of 10" body and in running condition better not think twice at such a price. Put aside the fact that our trucks are true American classics that have lasted 40 something years, and just think of the value of a running pickup as a usefull vehicle and darn near anything is worth a grand.
I gladly gave $950 for my 65 F100 Overdrive short box a couple of years ago. It took a lot of cleaning and tinkering. It still has the common foreward bed cancer and other small rust issues but I went out looking for a truck. Something to preserve, maintain, and use. I liked the charm and simplicity of the old models. I got one heck of a dependable workhorse that still cleans up pretty nice. Cheap parts, easy to work on. Who could ask for more, for less then a grand?
Sorry for being so long but the quote just kind of made me feel like a garage kept, low mileage, cream puff would only bring $1850.....Not lately, maybe 1986
Yea prices vary even in the same state. Here that price is expensive (of course peoples ideas of 7 of 10 can vary greatly too) unless the right person wants the truck.
Two years ago when I was looking for parts for my truck after the accident I ran across a guy who wanted $1,000.00 for a truck he said was cherry. It was a short bed with a 352 granny tranny non custom cab and had been a ranch truck it's entire life. The bed looked like it had about 1000 loads of gravel dumped into it and was beat badly. The engine had lost oil pressure and had locked up so he couldn't start it needed some major body work but yet he refused to lower his price.
after a closer look today i found the bed was rusted out ( tryed to cover it up with a liner) i guess i will pass on it , all i really need is two fenders and a hood, does anyone know ware to find them at a good price?
wow! i should go to the states to get my next truck! here in alberta its tough to find a non-running mid-60s ford for under $1500.
My last was a 66 for $500, from a great uncle, with a rebult 240, and it was flipped upside down about 20 years back and the only main problem is the roof panel is screwed up. aside from a little body rust and the drivers door wont close tightly it was a pretty good deal, im driving that until i can get another 66 or so restored
