Found a 65 F100

Hey John, While lookin around for a donor truck last night, I found a 65F100 which has the body badly rusted dent and damage (specificaly the bed and driver side).I ask if they would sel it for spare parts and the guy is going to get back to me today.
Enlight me here the 65 was the first year with twin Ibeams. If so this means that the power stering is quite posible or say easy swap. ( I saw a power stering pump on it ) this would indicate that some one has either done it or start with the process. I think that I can get the hole thing for about $150.00 bucks.
What do you think, I would end up with two options
a) Change fenders, bed, hood and doors from my 64 to the 65 body and get power stering plus maybe power brakes on it.
b) Buy it and look for a third donor and keep both running.

Jose, Yes the 65 is the first year for the Twins. I have thought for a while that if I had a pre 65 I would look for a later model chassis to move my sheet metal to so I could do the upgrades.

Does this truck run, because also in 65 they changed engines I6 & V8. $150.00 is a good price for a donor provided the running gear has some value.

There are several mods that you would have to do to transfer the sheet metal. If you fee confident enough doing the job why not buy a mid 70s truck and transfer on that setup. It would be a little more work, but the reward would be greater. IMHO! You would get not only power steering but power disc brakes as well as a better handeling truck. If you got a XLT for example say for $5-600.00 you could have AC too. Not a bad idea for your part of the country, huh?

Gues that I'm ford addicted, my original idea was to look for a donor for things like fenders and things like that, but when you start looking into the things you can do with them you just get all exited. Dont forget that my wife wants to drive mine and I want to keep it as stock original as possible (I can see the smile on you face, I know thats that way you like things done ). She was thinking about a 72 chevy but I rather stay ford ( besides I'm the one that pays for them and get to pick the one I want).

I'll let you know if I buy it and which way I go. I'm seriously considering saving both. I know that this 65 had a V8 but it was changed for a 300 in line. They said it would work. For $150.00 I'll take it.

Man you gotta keep that woman away from them chevys. What a way to dirty up a driveway. Do something quick man, don't let her think that way. Trucks are good, chevies are evil.

I recommend saving them all. Lord knows they are not building them like they used to, right John?

NAH, not at all, there are a lot of deep gulleys and reveins that could be filled with them ol chevies. We could bring some serious erosion problems under control. We have been using Kudzu here for years, but that stuff keeps taking over. You are right on about the Fords though, Thom. :-)
