Howdy folks, I just signed on today, and I've already found out a ton of stuff (seems like everybody's door ajar light is messed up).
Anywho, I start my 2002 Ford Ranger, 3.0L, four speed AT, 38-somethin thousand miles, and the airbag light comes on, just like always, then after it turns off, it comes back on and flashes four times, then six times. Sometimes it stays on all the time, sometimes it continually flashes, and sometimes it doesn't come on at all. From what I've learned working on classic cars, it sounds a lot like a loose connection somewhere, but this is really the first vehicle I've worked on thats even fuel-injected, so I don't want to go poking around in there. Any help would be wonderful, even if its just what color wires I need to chase.
Sounds to me like its some kind of error message but more informed heads will poke in on this post and let you know. I beliegve one of your sensors is malfunctioning. Not a good thing if you have an accident.

Any prior owners/accidents? I had the same problem in mine, only I tore the ribbon in my steering wheel, lol. There are two plugs coming from your steering column to a mounting place underneath your dash on drivers side, one should be in a yellow tube (correct me if I'm wrong) and make sure that both of those plugs are secure. They will mount on a bracket. Open your glovebox and look on top of the heater plenum and you'll find a little white 'box' (for lack of a better word) and make sure that's plugged in all the way. Look under your center console/drink holder and make sure the connection is tight on the air bag controller. That's a start anyways, good luck.

Reason: forgot a little detail
Thanks, all. I fiddled with the connections under the driver seat and behind the glove-box, and now the light no longer flashes at me. I hope its because this fixed it and not because it just decided to quit flashing!
