'96 Explorer Cruise Control
The horn does work.
The 4wd/4wd lo lights are flashing and the OD lockout light flashes sometimes, but one problem at a time.
The transmission works properly.
I don't have an owner's manual but I have ordered a shop manual and it will take maybe 5 weeks to get here.
I hope you guys can help, I've posted this on two other forums and have had no replies.
Now for the real problems... since you don't have a manual for the fuses, just pull all of them and check to see if any are blown. Replace as necessary.
The 4x4 and O/D lights flashing... there have been numerous posts here on those problems so do a search 'cause I don't remember what the actual fix is. If memory serves, the '96 was still using the A4LD trans... which has problems with the vaccum modulator... so that may be something to consider. The transfer case was/still is a problem, where the shift motor won't engage... resulting in a partial/complete rebuild of the t-case. Hopefully someone will step up with a more detailed answser for you.
I'm searching the Ford website as I write this.
My trans is a 5 speed auto. I'm in Australia and Explorers aren't all that common or popular here so info is a bit hard to come by.
I have done a search re: the flashing lights and have found a lot of useful stuff.
I'll attack that later, at the moment the trans is working ok and I've got a bit of other stuff to do.
I believe the fuse for the cruise is the same as the horn fuse and the horn works. I'll do a mass fuse pull anyway, there's a lot there.
Just found the owner's manual on the Ford website.
Thanks for that.
