300 cid inline 6
Anyone know if I can use a harmonic balancer puller to pull the timing gears on a 300 cid ford? Also my chilton call for a timing cover alinment tool to set the front cover and not misaline the oil seal, is this really needed?

On the front cover if you use a drill bit shank that just fits between the crank and cover housing and have the same clearance all around, the seal will be concentric with the crank hence no future oil leak. On the FE motors I machined a brass sleeve which aligns the cover to crank.
