we all do...if u use a tuner, and new exhaust it is much improved, no CAT seemed to help me more also. To my understanding it is beacause of the variable turbo...
In order for the turbo to kick in it needs plenty of exhaust pressure, wich you have to get the engine spinning to get the exhaust pressure. It also has to do with emissions, Your engine wont give it a ton of fuel until there is plenty of boost. This is done to prevent black smoke. So you need the engine to rev up to get the boost but you need the boost to give the engine full fuel.
I usually refrain, as this comes up a million times on this site, and is always wrong.
what the deal is, the rpm of the engine is below the boost threshold of the turbocharger.
turbo lag, and the amount of time it takes the turbo to produce positive pressure in the intake tract AFTER BOOST THRESHOLD has been reached, not from the time you mash the pedal. it would have the SAME EXACT delay if no turbocharger was present.
as for lag, the 6ohh has NONE.
sorry for the rant.....but your not feeling lag.
here is an excerpt that defined it better than me
Lag is not to be confused with the boost threshold, however many publications still make this basic mistake. The boost threshold of a turbo system describes the minimum turbo rpm at which the turbo is physically able to supply the requested boost level. Newer turbocharger and engine developments have caused boost thresholds to steadily decline to where day-to-day use feels perfectly natural. Putting your foot down at 1200 engine rpm and having no boost until 2000 engine rpm is an example of boost threshold and not lag. http://www.answers.com/topic/turbocharger
Yes, but one interesting thing is from what ive seen and been told the turbo lag can effectivelly be dialed out of the 6.0 with some creative tuning of the VGT........the turbo threshold is actually attained at a low RPM but the VGT doesnt take advantage of it untill higher up in the RPMs.
If ford would only look into these things more and do it in a off the showroom manner

I powerbrake it at lights and launch it when green its a blast!!!
What are you saying? I've heard of powerbraking... but never asked the specifics. Give me some details... I hate those ricers that just need to be shown that a 8000lb truck is nothing to mess with
First place it in 4x4.
Hold your left foot on the brake hard.
Depress the accelerator pedal fully - wait for the screech of rubber, then release the brake pedal.
