turbo boost questions

I have a 96 F 350 and just did the 6637 mod. I have noticed increased power and throttle response but have also noticed a signicant reduction in boost pressure. Is this normal?

That wouldnt be the cause for lost boost, in itself. Check all of your boots and make sure they're on and tightened down.

Those are two opposites.

The reduction of boost and the increase in power are opposites. They should go hand in hand. I don't see how that can happen unless your just talking about running around in town when you don't get any boost usually.

You can lose boost and gain power. A perfect example of this is when you install an intercooler.

Adding an intercooler doesnt give you anymore power. It just lowers your EGT's. I guess in theory, yes colder air = more dense air= and fuel + more air= power. BUT that difference is miniscule.

An intercooler will lower inlet air temps, creating a more dense air charge, thus lowering boost PSI.

The loss in boost isnt so much from that, you lose boost because your adding more space to pressureize.

So how much boost did you loose with your intercooler?

You don't even loose it then, it's just delayed until you pressurize the whole system

Well, if your turbo makes say, 20 lbs of boost and you add your intercooler and tubing, your turbo will still be making the same boost it was before, but the boost pressure will be less as its in a larger area. Your turbo doesnt make more boost to make up for it
