Well just drove across state, most of the driving was at 60mph steady driving
got 20.8 mpg, this is with an 04 Screw Lariat with 5.4 3:73 LS rearend. It seems like the mileage starts dropping past the 60+ mph mark.

IMO, it's awful hard to get a accurate reading on mpg, when you have less than 5000 miles.

You simply won't get good mpg when the whole truck hasn't been "broke in" yet.

with my 04 Lariat SC 4x4 3.73 shortbed on a full tank (27 gal) mostly city driving 3/4 and 1/4 highway I've been averaging about 305-315 on a tank. also tried some acetone and still no difference. with the gas prices on the rise especially here in Hawaii, it looks as though I'll be taking out a second mortgage to pay for gas ......but I still love my Baby

My truck has a 114L, 25 imperial or 30 US gallon tank. I have been getting about 260 miles to 24 US gallons. That works out to 10.83 miles per US gallon in the city. If you convert that to imperial gallons, it looks better 13 mpg........ :-) I consider myself a conservative driver also. I would hate to see the mileage if I had a lead foot!

Mine was reflashed for a rough idle and it seems to be a little better from a fuel economy perspective. It was not bad before the reflash. I cannot complain what I am getting now!

Other than the gas mileage, I LOVE the truck! It is far better in all respects compared to the 2003 I had. Now, don't get me wrong the 03' was awesome too! The new style trucks are just MORE awesome!

I haven't tried towing yet, but I am anxious to try. I have a 27'-6" Travel Trailer. The 03' struggled a little on steep grades. I hope this one is better. Also, I am curious to see the mileage while towing.

I have an '05 4x4 Screw with the 3.73 gearing. So far with 3800 miles on it, the best mpg I got was 17.3. that was all highway, 70-75mph, all stock. I check every fill-up, worst was 15+, most are 16+ mpg, mixed driving. I just installed a K&N filter last week, and my new tonneau cover came today, (no I didn't buy just for the improved mpg). I will let you know what, if any improvement there is.
I am somewhat disappointed is the mpg, even if it is a truck. My '87 F150 still gets 17+, with 240k on it. You'd think that after 18 years they, along with everyone else could get these engines to be more efficeint. I know people who own the full sized Toyota Tundra, and get 20-22 mpg hi-way, consistently, 18+ city. Go figure??

But your 87 doesn't post the performance figures the new one does!

The F-150 is considerably heavier than the Tundra and has a less powerful engine.

You are correct, the '87 doesn't have near the power!
I didn't know the Tundra was a lighter truck. I would think quite a bit lighter to make that much of a difference.

Advertised curb weight.

Ford F150 SuperCrew 4x4 - 5577

Toyota Tundra SR5 4x4 - 4965

The EPA mileage ratings are virtually the same 14/18 - Ford ~ 15/18 - Toyota

I was at Cabelas her in Michigan, they had full size truck frames on display and the Ford Frame was certainly the strongest and the Tundra looked kind of weak. I do not know if ford is building the frames so strong to the point of over kill, but boy, the Ford Truck Frames are impressive. My truck is the cheapest car in my house to insure and its because the truck crashes so well.....nothing more to say except I do wish I could get the window sticker mpg....have an appt to get the computer reflashed.
