Went and check my truck for the CANP solenoid and cannot find any type of electrical conection or solenoid in the line between the charcoal canister and the throttle body. There are two lines that run to the canister. One from the gas tank(s) and the other goes to the throttle body via a split to both bores.
Yeah, I was wondering about the Oxygen sensor. If the sensor in the truck was set up for the emission requirements of the truck PCM, by putting in th FMS MAF conversion, would I need to change the oxygen sensor to match the new PCM? As for the 3/4 wire difference, my 89 has only 3 wires to the oxygen sensor.
The MAF kit is listed as being able to work with up to 93's. Mine is a 95 - and the o2 sensor wiring might be one or all of the reason why. I had a 4 wire on mine and switched it to a 3 wire and grounded one of the pins to complete the job. Previous to that my computer wasn't getting an o2 sensor signal.
Sounds like you don't have a CANP. You can either put one in or leave it alone.
If you're not getting any o2 sensor codes - yours should be ok.
so can i go to a mustang that has a 5.0 and mass air? Does it have to be the same year? I would have to get the computer, injectors, all the wiring. what eles would i have to get. this would actually go into a 92 f-150 automatic 4x4. or would i have to find a pickup that has mass air which i believe they put them on in 96.
You can get a mustang 5.0 computer - you can't really use a mustang harness w/o modification cause the sensors are in slightly different places. Fordfuelinjection.com has wiring harnesses but you can modify your own if you're ok with wiring.
The injectors you have would work - just get a MAF computer - MAF sensor - and the appropriate wiring setup.
Is the automatic an E4OD or a non-computer controlled tranny like the AOD?
Theres a lot of posts in the 87-96 on MAF conversions, a search would pull up a lot of info.

its an E4OD. It would be better to find a pickup with mass air? Can it be any year? Any transmission? or does it all have to be specific. for the mass air sensor can i get a bigger one from any performance store?
You cannot go with a mustang computer because you have an E4OD which is computer controlled.
This is where things get complicated - there are many posts you could find in the 87-96 about E4OD Mass Air Converstion - use different keywords and search through. You should be able to find out what you need to know pretty easily.
