Mass air conversion experts needed

I just finished my Mass air conversion on my 88 F150 351. I bought the overlay harness from PMA systems like the one used on the Ford Muscle Big Ugly Work Truck. I also found the Y tube they described. Had another O2 sensor bung welded and got the MAF and ECM for an automatic off eBay. Added a K&N filter to the MAF meter and all went fine except for one problem. When I start the engine I don't get the higher rpm's at first like I used too. If I don't work the throttle a little it tries to die. When completely warm I noticed that it doesn't increase the rpms when I shift into park like it used to either. I'm thinking I may have missed a step in the process but can't figure it out. Everything else works great. Checked for codes and got one that said idle RPM was to high even though it was barely running.
I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Thanks,
Ron

Do they still send the kit without any tuning, like the old Pro-M kits?

You could check for vacuum leaks, but if that kit is anything like their old stuff, it's pretty much plug-n-play.

Only other thing I can think of is the transfer function might need some tweeking even though the air meter is cal'd for the injectors, and a little aftermarket tuning should take care of that.

The Mass Air vehicles don't rev up at start like the the SD vehicles.. that's normal. What do you have your base ignition advance set at? Is your idle bypass solenoid working smoothly?

I don't know what my base ignition advance is. I know at one point I had idle trouble and a mechanic said he changed it. I don't have a tach but maybe I could borrow one. How do I check it?
Thanks,
Ron

check your timing should be 10-12*btdc with spout removed. also check for codes. www.fordfuelinjection.com should have some answers for you as well

i noticed one thing when i did the ford racing mass air conversion, is that when i turn the wheel (truck running and in park) the engine doesnt rev up a little. i assumed it was because the 89-93 mustang computer that i installed with the conversion doesnt signal the steering box sensor (which raises the idle slightly when turning the wheels under load)...
