My stacks are from Grand Rock also. I haven't seen any ill effects of running without the CAT converter. The turbo sure sounds a lot nicer without the CAT.
I get asked if I have recently slipped a jet engine under the hood.
dont cut it apart. all i did was get a big drill bit and drilled some big holes into the honeycomb which lossened it up a little bit. then i got a crowbar and just knocked it out. it took under 10minute.
5 years back i had a ricer and took off the cat to run a straight pipe. it sounded good for a rice rocket, but i lost power. it wasnt creating enough back pressure and made the car even slower then before. does the same thing not apply with a diesel? sorry i dont know this
My buddy has a 05 with a 5" bully dog no cat sound sick and a good rummble when he get on it but he's also running the edge juice with more goodies than i can afford.I just bought the 4" MBRP turbo back with the cat delete pipe will post a sound clip when I get it installed wont be here till middle of next week.

On a turbocharged engine, anything you do to free up the exhaust (or intake) will help. That is not always the case with a naturally-aspirated engine, as you found out.
