What are some symtoms that cause surging at cruising speeds? At a steady high rpm i can feel a vibration in the steering wheel. I can also watch the speedometer raise and lower by 3-4mph at the same time. Could it be the carburetor? driveline? transmission? I have a few oil leaks. Transfer case, front and rear differentials, transmission, and engine. I know that my engine has the correct fluid but i do not know if the rest are up to par. I have just recently purchased this truck and have yet to iron out all the bugs. Thanks in advance!
Well when i got the truck the vacuum advance was hooked up wrong and the timing was off by about 4 degrees btdc. I set the timing at 10 btdc and hooked the vacuum advance up right! I do have a brake booster going bad that is causing a vacuum leak! The egr valve is not hooked up and it is plugged off.
Thats what i was thinking! I was not sure until i replaced the booster! Which i have not yet. It is not a vibration that i have ever dealed with yet. And i have had the privelage of driving many (special) vehicles. If you know what i mean?
Yeah i could find out that it is the vacuum leak just before i hit the wall! LOL! Thats Ironic, Just the other day i tore off the Dale Earnheardt stickers from the previous owner. And two days after that i about lost control in the ice on a narrow bridge. And the only thing i could think of was almost hitting the wall!
