I have a 1997 Ford Ranger super cab 4.0. I am trying to put in a new clutch. I need to remove the exhaust in order to get the transmisson out. I already busted one bolt head and am not having any luck in removing this exhuast. I cut the left side of the exhaust out, thinking i would be able to get by. But it seems the exhaust on the right side is in the way so I won't be able to remove the transmission mounting bolts. Any help with this would be great thanks.
If you have broken rusty bolts don't drill them out....weld them out! any good welder should be able to weld them out. You build up a head (on the bolt only) using a stick welder, then weld a nut to the build up. The heating/cooling cycles, along with the electrical current flow, loosens the bolt. With a little WD-40, and a lot of patients, it will come out. (Don't forget to Chase the threads after).
