miles on kwik filter?

How many miles have you guys put on the kwik filter, before you noticed a reduced mpg? I have always gotten 18+ miles per gallon in the city, but has gone down to 16 without changing my driving habits, and without the a/c on. I was thinking reduced air flow would cause a reduced mpg. And if you can see the light through the other side of the filter, when using a flash light is a good way to test, and can air pressure be used to clean, or just replace when dirty?
Thanks in advance for any replys. Jeff

I've never noticed a change in mileage. I got about 10,000 miles out of my last one and it could have gone a LOT farther. I was going on vacation and wanted new filters everywhere, so I changed it.

The drop in milage you noticed is most likley due to winter blend fuels.

I have 20k+ on mine, the filter minder hasn't shown any restriction. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

kwik miles

I have probably 10,000 miles on it, so not really excessive amount. I didn't think about winter fuels, I live in Phoenix,az. so not sure if this would affect me. Thanks for replys, waiting for TS chip to be delivered, hopefully mpg will go up, barring a lead foot. Jeff

Re-install the FilterMinder on the 6637. Let that tell you when to change it.

My friend told me his truck would burn more fuel at idle than going down the road.
Sounds weird but
I guess that may be true.....

1997F-350,

Just out of curiousity, where did you mount your FilterMinder? I wonder if you mounted the FilterMinder in such a way that the air rushing past the sensor's port creates a venturi effect? Thus vacuum, that isn't really there in the airstream, is being seen.

There have been locations found that present a higher vacuum to the Minder than is actually present. Another thread covered this:
