Anyone using Direcway. Coming to find the DSL and cable had in town is
more reliable and faster. So far downtime and cutting off is becoming the
rule. At times would think was on dail up.
Only reason spent the high bucks is out where live is all could get.
I've been on DirecWay for about 18 months now. My setup has been pretty good- occassional problems, but they usually clear in a day or two.
There is absolutely no comparing DW to cable or DSL. They aren't even in the same league. But, when satellite is the only thing you can get, it sure beats dial-up.
Check out the DirecWay forum at www.dslreports.com for some real good info on what to expect and maybe even some pointers on how to make your experience better.
Satellite isn't all that broadband 'can' be... that's for sure.
Just remember that, like all forums, you get a majority of posts regarding problems. People like myself, who have no/few problems, rarely start threads titled: "it worked good again today".
That's true. I think what misleads many folk is the installers claiming that it will be
much faster. Overall mine suit my needs. I get a little ticked when typing a
message like this and satellite error comes up. Have to start over.
If it really acts up have just turned off the 7000 receiver and rebooted and usually
back online again. If was a business user can see more problems. If got the
patience to walk away for a bit, it will be back up and running.
If you are having those kinds of problems- with that frequency- then I'd say there may be an installation issue. You might post your info at dslreports and let the real experts give their opinions.
There's also a new thread there about a software update coming out next week (so says DWay support) that is supposed to cure some woes.
I have the Direcway, really no problems unless a very hard rain will knock it out, but comes back up fast. I cant get DSL or cable, too far out from the big city. $100 a month
