Magnaflow muffler question

To any of you who have installed or seen a Magnaflow muffler, I was wondering if you may be able to answer a question for me.

The previous owner of my 01 CC/SB installed a stainless Magnaflow exhaust system. It's a 3.5" DP-4" turbo-back system and has a 21" long muffler. My question is this:

Does the muffler have directional louvers in it for flow deflection? I assume it's a straight-through muffler, but is it reversible (able to be turned around and have the open end of the louvers AWAY from the flow of exhaust)?

The reason I ask is that this muffler is QUIET!! The more I'm around my brother's truck the more I want to be able to hear the exhaust better. He has the same exact truck for the most part, but he has a different brand of exhaust.

Thanks much,

Cody

It's a straight through type, you could flip it all day long with out any change no louvers (at least not on the one I had).

I liked the Magnaflow system that I had on my previous 7.3L as it kept the co-pilot happy and helped out the EGTs.

Just eliminate the muffler all together.. My son-in-law welded in a straight pipe and it sounds good.. not to loud at all.. I have magnflow muffler and it is not any any louder than the stock one i took off..

if it is anything similar to MBRP's muffler, then yes. mine is louvered, and i have the louvers facing WITH the flow, so it "lets the sound out"

best to just pull it off and see.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was trying to save myself the time of pulling it off because I'm lazy. I was just kind of curious as to whether it was just a perforated core or a louvered core. I'll pull it off and see.

Yes, I know about the straight pipe action...my 95 was like that and I loved it, then put stacks on it and loved it more. However, the better half might be a little upset if it's too loud (she had no say with the other truck) but since she gets to drive this one, I'll try to keep her happy.

I'll just pull it off and see. Since it's a diesel and stainless pipe it shouldn't be too hard to pull apart.
