"Silverstar" Headlamps

Has anyone tried those Phillips "Silverstar" headlamps? I am looking for something brighter for my 99. I already replace the headlight assemblies with clear ones from ebay, and they don't project light real well.

Ground-Pounder, I'm using a set on my 02 and also used a set on my 99 V-10. I got behind my buddy the other day on the way to the hunting camp and he thought I had my brights on. I like em.

Thanks for the input. I think I will go get a set today. They certainly aren't cheap though!

Thumbs up

A little pricey but well worth it. I have them in all my vehicles

I Have Some In My 02.
I Think They Are As About As Bright As You Can Get.
I Would Reccomend Them Also. But They Are Pricy

Sylvania currently has a $5 rebate on 2 lamps until 3/31/06. Not much but it will pay the sales tax

You should try ebay. i bought the 9007's and the 9005's (for foglights too) and the total was $67 for four bulbs. brand new in the packaging. i just got my Summitracing heavy duty light harness today, and i am going to install it this evening. makes them 20% brighter, and i can run my low beams with high beams for $.10, without overloading them. comes straight from the battery.

Hmmm, in "some" way, your post sounds like something I've heard before.

steve, thanks ALOT for showing me that link to summit's harness. i opened the box when it came today, and it looked really complicated. i then layed it out, and it was pretty fun to install. i enjoyed it. while i was at it, i put on a SS HP crossover line. it made the idle alot nicer. that harness made them seem alot brighter too. i know i am going to get high's flashed at me alot. i am going to radio shack (hopefully) tonight, to get a diode, like you showed me in the pics. my mom's explorer can run high beams and lows at the same time and i envy her. not for long.

Go to summitracing and type in 890031 in the search bar. They're $28.50, on clearance now so I don't know how much longer they will have them.

Got my Silverstars last night and installed them. Wow, what a difference! Trying to get the drivers side headlight assembly off was a pain in the a** when it is 13 degrees out, but well worth it! Is there a trick to getting those little clips off easier to pull the assembly out?

Thanks Steve...I am driving into Sparks this morning, so I'll pass by Summit and see if they have one. Also, do you know if there is any reason this harness upgrade wouldn't work on a 1999 F350?

I'd be willing to pick up a harness for anyone who might want one...I'll be out of here in two hours though. Let me know...

Um, Grunt?
You don't have to remove the assembly, the bulb just pops out of the back of the housing. Turn it 90 degrees and it's out. Took me about 45 seconds for each light.
DO NOT touch the buld with bare hands. You don't want to leave any oil from your hands on the bulb, can cause it to fail prematurely.
