Well, apparently the 03's are set up a little differently than my 99.5. I have about 1" of clearance between the back of the light and my battery box on the drivers side. With all the different connections going to the battery for my plow, I figured it would be easier than removing the battery/battery box. But also for future reference, what is the trick to getting those clips off? Is there a special tool?

I had minimal clearance on the driver side too, but had enough to barely get it out. There are no clips, just turns on my '03.
Pax side was far easier.
nlemerise, the kit says it fits the 9007 bulbs, Grunt has a '99, dunno' if he put the harness on. Worse case, if it doesn't fit, at least they're close by to return it.

Excuse my ignorance, but, when you do the silverstar lights don't you also have to up grade the wiring to the lights or risk a fire or melt down ?
It seems I've read on here somewhere they draw more voltage, hence the need for bigger wires.
I'd appreciate it if someone would explain this and thank you.

I just ordered the upgrade kit for the 9007's from Summit this morning.

It's at "clearence" prices.

No need to upgrade wiring. For those who try to perform homegrown HID then YES!!!! Silverstars do not draw much more current, the gasses they use just create a more blue wavelength of light, which creates a more white light. Not only that, but they do a lot of research to place the filiment of the light in the exact focal point necessary to optimize the efficiency of the reflecting surface. These two things make it seem much brighter with minimal increase in temperature and power use.

That looked like the most obvious way to do it Rampage, I just didn't want to mess with all that. I knew how to take the assembly out because I put in the aftermarket clear headlights last year. But I am still curious as to how the 2 clips that hold the assembly are supposed to come out? I got them out, but an hour of standing on cold concrete when it is 13 degrees is not my idea of fun. I'm sure someone knows a trick to it. Thanks!

Robertjohn,
Yes, upgrade the harness too. The SS's will not melt down the stock harness but you'll get about 20% more light out of the upgraded harness. Plus, you can skip buying the britebox and put in a ten-fifty cent diode to do what the britebox does for $100!
The SS produces the whitest light available, not blue. You get blue when you start going over ~4000k, like with the HID.

Wow, a first for me! However small it may be but I actually did a mod before Kwik did!

yes, i took the battery box out to get to my left light too, it was just easier. the only thing on the box is the battery, because of the kwik filter. the harness went in nice, and now my diode i got that steve250 suggested, makes it a "brite box" for only 69 cents at radioshack. but there were two in the package, so it was only 34 cents!

How do you add the diode to run hi & low beams at same time? I need to have them both on. Thanks for any info.

Just a little FYI for you guys that don't have them yet. I got mine at Walmart for $37 for a pair of them. Good price, and you don't have to wait for them to get here from Ebay!

RedDragon, you must have the upgraded harness which affords you an empty line end.
Look in my gallery for info on it. Once you have the harness hooked up and operational, you may do the "brite box" mod found here:

http://www.northtexaspowerstrokes.co...pgradeharness/

ps, don't buy the APC harness, get the summitracing item.
