1ole4d signuture made me think about something I often contemplate
At one time my old rotted out Ford Hi Boy was a brand new truck the guy who drove it home was as proud as my girlfiend is of her brand new truck, It at one time was state of the art and everyone said as the owner drove by, that guy has a brand new ford, he drove it with pride, I wonder what the first song he heard in it was, or what kind of music he listened to in it, Did he smoke in it ? The truck has seen alot in coming up on 27 years, And as bad is it is now it was once a brand spanking new truck..hard to imagine but what a life its live
I question things like this, I remmeber the first song I heard in our brand new truck, and even after its a year old I still ride with pride and look forward to the day my old ford looks like it just rolled off the michigan truck assembly line
Anyone else ever think about this type of thing or am I just weird and deserve a flogging like this poor s.o.b.
I dont remember the first song i heard in my truck, but i do wonder what it looked like brand new. I got my truck a few years ago from my uncle, it sat in his yard for 6 years so it was in pretty bad shape. It has a new paint job and now im trying to get seats out of a mid 90s crew cab so i can have new seats when i redo the interior. Now you got me thinking and im gunna have to ask my uncle if he has any pictures of it new.

I have all these older vehicles too, and I like to think "what was I doing when this truck was new and just driven off the lot?" My 1980 was top of the line when it was new, and I was in 10th grade in high school when somebody was driving it around new. I also think "what if this truck could talk?" You would be amazed what these things go through, and you get hints when you take a fender or a bed off that is the wrong color underneath. It had gobs of options from the factory, and I found it in a field at a turkey farm with the windows rolled down.
My signature is something I though of while riding down the road in the ambulance (I drive one) one day. Yes...my truck isn't computerized or have any fancy doodads on it like power windows or cruise control like todays trucks but back in 1978 I'm sure it was one of the best you could get for a 4x4. It came with factory a/c and ps. Personally I don't want power windows or locks. Just more electrical junk that can go wrong. Even after 23 almost 24 years the body is still in excellent shape. She still get compliments at her old age too about the looks and how she runs. Thanks to me I too have wondered what it looked like brand new and what some of the firsts were with it. I'm the 3rd owner now and a lot has been done to it. The last owner removed ALL the a/c components and the carpeting. He also added a custom built winch bumper on the front and a solid tube bumper in the rear. I have plans to restore it down the road if money permits. I'll have to take a picture and post it sometime to show you all.
1978 F-150 flareside. Primitive by todays standards but she was a jaw dropper back then. :-staun
I often wonder what my old trucks have been through too. The first truck I owned was a 68 F-100 Ranger, and I pulled the seat to fix the floorboards. I found an old insurance bill dated Oct. 1969 under the seat. Turns out, the original owners own an upholstery shop a few miles down the road, and they told me they bought it from a local dealership after they got married. They were surprised to hear that it was still around, and promised to find some pictures of it when it was new.
Well I know the history of at least two of mine. The 78 was owned by the company I work for now. Most if its life in Mississippi. Then here before it was retired. I was in the 3rd grade when it was new. The 85 I am the second owner of, bought it from a guy at work. Know for a fact it has an easier life now. The 97 I bought with 30,000 miles on her. Who knows where she has been. It seems like people took better care of stuff a long time ago...who knows
