Greasing the steering joints...could have ruptured

Okay, so I pumped grease into the balljoint fitting. The rubber seal didn't feel too firm so I gave it one last squeeze. With that squeeze grease began to spew out of the area between the seal and the steering joint. What now? Did I rupture the seal? If so, how do I fix it? Thanks.
